About Us

In 2004Lewisham Council announced plans to demolish Ladywell Leisure Centre in 2007 - we saved it! The pool will stay open until the forecast replacement is ready.  Sadly the plan is awfully inadequate and instead of being a plan for a community sport and leisure centre it is a plan for a lifestyle pool for the new residential developments to be built in front of Lewisham Station.

Sub-committee on Ladywell meeting on 5th September

The Overview & Scrutiny sub-committee which is reviewing the decision making process in relation to the establishment of a new secondary school on the site of Ladywell Leisure Centre will be meeting at 7.30pm on Monday 5 September in Committee Room 1 in the Civic Suite, at Lewisham Town Hall, Catford.

This will be a very interesting meeting indeed. Viewing is highly recommended.

One person that is surely interested in what's going on there is Mayor Bullock.
When the Overview and Scrutiny Education Business Panel refused to rubber-stamp the Mayor's decision and appointed a purposely set sub-committee, asked about it by the South London Press Steve Bullock had said that:

"I asked the chair of overview and scrutiny to review the sequence of events leading up to the decision to site the new school in Ladywell."
"It is not intended to change the decision but to look at the lessons we can learn and improve the way decisions are taken."

Do we have to believe that Mayor Bullock asked somebody to explain him his own decision?

Still, we couldn't agree more with Steve Bullock's latest comment on the subject as he recently said:

"I'll be waiting with interest for the outcome of the sub-committee works."
