About Us

In 2004Lewisham Council announced plans to demolish Ladywell Leisure Centre in 2007 - we saved it! The pool will stay open until the forecast replacement is ready.  Sadly the plan is awfully inadequate and instead of being a plan for a community sport and leisure centre it is a plan for a lifestyle pool for the new residential developments to be built in front of Lewisham Station.

Then we went down to the pool, spoke with the staff and the workers repairing the roof and felt immediately better.

This time it was only some rain water that leaked under the roof insulation and filled the membrane that covers the ceiling making it bow under the weight of the water on one spot above the the learner pool.

Not really a big deal. The pool was re-opened in the afternoon.

In the picture on the right you can see the part of the ceiling affected as it was visible through a window from the car park. In the other the workers repairing the fault.

Still, with the very expensive roof and ceiling repair (£ 1.2 million) done during the recent 20 months closure this shouldn't really have happened. ...read more...
