About Us

In 2004Lewisham Council announced plans to demolish Ladywell Leisure Centre in 2007 - we saved it! The pool will stay open until the forecast replacement is ready.  Sadly the plan is awfully inadequate and instead of being a plan for a community sport and leisure centre it is a plan for a lifestyle pool for the new residential developments to be built in front of Lewisham Station.

Our online poll says "lies unacceptable"

The Standards Board for England has been given a great discretionary power to use when deciding whether or not to investigate an allegation and surely there are behaviours that are now acceptable but were not so during Queen Victoria's reign.

But, to read that they decided not to investigate a complaint against Mayor Bullock because they found no objection to providing false information alarmed us.

We therefore decided to run an online poll on our website to ascertain whether they were interpreting public opinion correctly and we were out of sync with modern thinking.

The result to our poll doesn't give much space to interpretation.

0% voted for option 1 - YES, deliberately providing false information is an acceptable behaviour for elected members of local authorities in England.

100% voted for option 2 - NO, that's unacceptable in a democracy and disrespectful of the taxpaying public. To pretend otherwise is ludicrous.

Bill Clinton didn't vote.

Will the Standards Board take notice? ...read more...
