About Us

In 2004Lewisham Council announced plans to demolish Ladywell Leisure Centre in 2007 - we saved it! The pool will stay open until the forecast replacement is ready.  Sadly the plan is awfully inadequate and instead of being a plan for a community sport and leisure centre it is a plan for a lifestyle pool for the new residential developments to be built in front of Lewisham Station.

Tales and truths

The Council has for some time tried to trick everyone in believing that it's Partnership for Schools that imposes decisions upon them and, more recently, that the package of investments agreed by the Mayor is set in stone and making any change to it would mean that all funding for schools in Lewisham would be at risk.

So, here's the truth from Partnership for Schools.
Straight answers to straight questions.

Question

How much scope is there to change the Strategic Business Case? What adjustments could the council make? For example could they change the number of school places being created or decide to build a new school somewhere other than on the leisure centre? Or would this jeopardise the funding?

Answer from Partnership for Schools

"The Strategic Business Case (SBC) is a document that the Local Education Partnership (LEP) has to update to reflect the local authority's evolving priorities over the lifetime of the partnership agreement."

Which means, in plain English, that the SBC is not set in stone, and can be altered. Changes to the SBC are at the discretion of the local authority, and do not affect funding.
