505 people responded to our questionnaire (thank you!).The results (from the website, and from questionnaires we received by post and at our campaigning tables) are:
1. Do you think it is acceptable to close the pool before a replacement is ready?
(1.0% responded yes, 96.6% responded no, 2.4% abstained)2. Do you think you have been adequately consulted by the council on the closure of the pool?
(1.6% responded yes, 95.8% responded no, 2.6% abstained)3. Do you think the Ladywell site is suitable for a secondary school?
(5.5% responded yes, 89.7% responded no, 4.8% abstained)4. Do you think the closure of the pool will adversely affect you and your household's opportunities to participate in active recreation and sport?
(91.3% responded yes, 5.9% responded no, 2.8% abstained)5. Have you or anyone in your household learnt to swim at Ladywell Pool?
(55.2% responded yes, 42.4% responded no, 2.4% abstained)6. If Ladywell Leisure Centre is closed before a replacement is provided, would having to travel to an alternative public leisure centre mean that you would do less exercise?
(80.4% responded yes, 16.6% responded no, 3.0% abstained)A few people didn't answer any questions but provided very interesting comments on their questionnaire sheets, those represent a 2% of abstention on each question.
We also asked about how often you used the Ladywell Leisure Centre. The answers were:
More than twice a week: 17.2%
Once or twice a week: 31.3%
About once a month: 13.9%
Less often: 16.8%
Never: 3.8%
Didn't provide details: 17.0%
We are still typing all of the comments and it will take another day to go through all of them. People just didn't want to miss on the opportunity to say what they think about this disgaceful decision.
We are also starting to see a pattern in the comments. Some tell us that they need the pool because of doctors' orders, others decided to write that a school there would mean a disaster for Lewisham traffic, many decided to write that they will not be voting for Bullock again.
Some other wrote all of these things together.
