About Us

In 2004Lewisham Council announced plans to demolish Ladywell Leisure Centre in 2007 - we saved it! The pool will stay open until the forecast replacement is ready.  Sadly the plan is awfully inadequate and instead of being a plan for a community sport and leisure centre it is a plan for a lifestyle pool for the new residential developments to be built in front of Lewisham Station.

A big thank you to all the mayoral candidates, especially Mayor Bullock for agreeing to come down into the Lion's den for probably one of the most uncomfortable debates of his life.

The whole cabinet was there to support him and most of them were very well behaved indeed.

Thanks also to all the other candidates - in no particular order: Chris Maines (Libdem Party), James Cleverly (Conservative Party), John Hamilton (Independent), Abi Oppel (representing the candidate for the Lewisham People's Party Sinna Mani that could not attend), Mike Keogh (Green Party).

We wanted to make a video-recording of the event available but it turned out to be too big a file for our web-hosting capabilities and we opted for a better sound rather than a heavily compressed video. ...read more...
