About Us

In 2004Lewisham Council announced plans to demolish Ladywell Leisure Centre in 2007 - we saved it! The pool will stay open until the forecast replacement is ready.  Sadly the plan is awfully inadequate and instead of being a plan for a community sport and leisure centre it is a plan for a lifestyle pool for the new residential developments to be built in front of Lewisham Station.

The Final Act!

MAYOR & CABINET

Report Title: Exclusion of the Press and Public

Item No. 10
Contributors: Chief Executive (Head of Business & Committee)
Date: 27 September 2006

Recommendation: It is recommended that under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 of Part 1 of Schedule 12(A) of the Act, as amended by the Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Access to Information) (Amendments) (England) Regulations 2006:-

101 Minutes

102 Review of alternative sites for new secondary school

This Wednesday the Mayor will receive the review of alternative sites for the new school that two months ago was commissioned to external consultants.

We cannot really say of being surprised that a discussion of great public interest on a report paid by public money about land available in our Borough is kept away from the public but the fact that the item on the Agenda is entitled "Exclusion of the Press and Public" rather than a name that says something on what is on discussion is surely very peculiar. Is this an attempt to hide it?

This report must be explosive!

We might not be able to stay in the room during the discussion but we will surely be just outside the door, ready to step back in as soon as the discussion ends and witness the Mayor's decision.

Come join us, Wednesday 27th September, Catford Town Hall.

The Mayor and Cabinet meeting starts at 6 pm, the decision that could save Ladywell Pool is no. 10 on the Agenda.

We'll start congragating outside the Town Hall at 5:30 pm.
