Lewisham Bridge Primary
One of the alternative sites for the new secondary school is the "Lewisham Bridge site". That's how that area is referred to in the Council's documents and that's what we have called it until now.
In reality the Lewisham Bridge Site is vastly occupied by Lewisham Bridge Primary School.
Lewisham Bridge Primary School is a thriving primary school that provides for about 330 children and, as all local schools are, is sitting on Council's owned land, a feature that these days puts you rather in danger.
The land around it is all in Council's ownership and we believe that if a secondary school would be built alongside it, it should do so using some of the land adjacent to the Primary School, not built to detriment of the Primary School.
As it happens the Council's consultation questionnaire on the new leisure centre looks like it's been designed to ring-fence all of that site for housing purposes as it opens with the following question:
"In principle, do you agree that these sites should be developed for a high density, high quality mixed use scheme which includes new homes, new shops and community uses and a new leisure centre?"
That's why we suggest to answer a clean NO to this question and to add in the comment box that educational uses should be considered for this land and that the proposed leisure centre is far too small for the likely usage.

Ideally we would have waited until a final decision on the survival of Ladywell Pool is taken before starting this group but the fact that Lewisham Council is starting a consultation with users and residents to plan for the facility that in a few years time is thought to replace Ladywell Pool moved us to act as a matter of urgency.
On the agenda:
Constitution of the group; Issues about Ladywell Pool and the other services of the centre (Cleanliness, timetable arrangement...) discussion on the proposed replacement for Ladywell Leisure Centre; AOB
